A Letter from One of our Speakers
January 31, 2003
Dear Colleyville Lions:
This is Lion Duane Helweg of Euless wanting to thank you for allowing
me to
speak at your club today. It was a two-fold joy; first, as a former
camper
and counselor at Texas Lions Camp and second, as a means in my life
today of paying back the Lions of Texas for what they did for me in a
yesterday.
It was easy to speak about something as close to my heart as camp. Let
me
encourage all of you to continue to support Texas Lions Camp in
whatever
manner you can, both as a group and individually. Lions Camp made a
difference in my life and I truly believe it helped vault me to any
success
I've had in life, including the confidence, courage and capability to
speak
at your club today. Camp can make a difference in a young life.
My best wishes to each of you in Lionism and in your club this year
and in
the future. I take every opportunity to share about my Lions camp
experiencesand have several lined up in future days and months as my
disability allows.
You have a great website to which I'm sending this email. I hope to
visit
your club again someday, or, my friend and guest today, Norma Hopkins
and I hope to encounter some of you at Urban Tapas, her son's new
appetizer bar in the also new Village at Colleyville. Be sure and say
hello to us if you do.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to speak to you and for the kind
words
received afterwards. I intended for my presentation to both touch each
of
you, and, be meaningful to you about your camp in the past and now our
camp in the future. Life is good.
May God bless.
Sincerely,
Lion Duane Helweg
